Turncoat Annie says Stuff it!

Just finished a short summer course at London MET on traditional upholstery. Really enjoyed learning a craft that has remained largely unchanged for hundreds of years and a new set of tools to get my hands on! Favourite is the web stretcher, which it may surprise you, stretches the webbing under the frame. Turns out horse hair is more likely to be coconut hair, or possibly cow's tails, who knew?

TA on the King's Road - briefly

Satuday: We MAKE LONDON at The Chelesa Town hall was packed out with cute, well-made, handmade loveliness, not to mention bunting (bunting everywhere!). A good day, baking hot, but TA saved from heatwave by being near an open window.
Stand looked good, but as ever there are still a million other things I want to try. The standard of work from exhibitors was impressive and another reminder of how enterprising and creative people are, TA particularly like Heart Zeena and Alice Gabb, and had a nice chat with Cariad Cake Stands.
Birds are really influencing TA's designs at the moment, but now getting artistic contributions from the birds themselves - one of TA's chairs received a gift from the sky on the way into the show!

Hello from Turncoat Annie

Turncoat Annie exists in cyber space - does anyone still call it that? Thanks for visiting and welcome. Thanks to the lovely people at the Hidden Dingbat Collective for making my furniture clickable. I hope to use this site and the blog to show off fancy new bits of work that you might like to admire or buy, and to let you know about shows/exhibitions where you can see the Turncoat Annie style.
